GIMBA holds educational meetings throughout the year. The purpose of these meetings is to provide members with opportunities to meet, learn, and participate in shared experiences with others who have common goals and concerns related to real estate finance. Most of these meetings have a strong educational component, related to a topic of interest and need as the mortgage industry changes with regulations, legislation, and the economic climate. However, GIMBA also has meetings that are strictly for fun and networking, including an annual 'Toys-for-Tots' event in December and an annual event in March on the 1st Thursday of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
The geographical area served by GIMBA include all counties within the Indianapolis MSA and Lafayette.
In July of 1989, GIMBA merged with the state association in order to create a united voice in promoting Indiana housing through legislative efforts and other programs directly impacting mortgage banking and the real estate finance industry.
For many years, GIMBA has contributed thousands of dollars and supplied many volunteer teams to assist in the construction of affordable housing for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis (HfHGI). Other community service projects that GIMBA has supported include Toys for Tots, Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, and Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership. Funds for these contributions are raised by various fundraising activities over the years.
On June25th, 2020, the GIMBA chapter had a social event a Wolfies in Noblesville where they raised over $1,700 for Riverview Health.
The photos below were taken at the May 18th Chapter meeting, sponsored by GVC Mortgage, that featured a discussion on the home-ownership Gap in the Indianapolis Market.
