Rob Chrisman, Chrisman Commentary

Rob Chrisman began his career in mortgage banking – primarily capital markets – 36 years ago in 1985 with First California Mortgage, assisting in Secondary Marketing. After, he ran Secondary for Standard Financial, a sub-prime lender in northern California, and in late 1997 Rob was hired by CrossLand Mortgage to start, and be the president of, a sub-prime company named OnCall Mortgage (a division of CrossLand).  

In November of 2006 Rob left TRMS to become the Director of Capital Markets for RPM Mortgage, leaving there in late 2008 to focus on not only publishing a widely read daily market commentary on current mortgage events.  

Rob is on the board of directors of the California MBA, and is also a member of the Secure Settlements Advisory Board, an associate of the STRATMOR Group, and of the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas and its membership committee. he has provided expert witness services for mortgage and real estate-related cases, has lectured to groups around the country.

National and Indiana Housing and Economic Forecast

Joel Kan, Mortgage Bankers Association

MBA's Associate Vice President of Economic & Industry, Joel Kan, is responsible for MBA's macroeconomic and housing market forecasts. He will be discussing the latest housing and economic statistics nationally, as well as a focus on Indiana specifically.

Joel oversees the production of MBA's industry surveys, including; the Weekly Mortgage Applications SurveyBuilder Applications Survey, and Mortgage Credit Availability Index - three of the association's high-profile surveys. He regularly presents across the country on the economy and housing market at MBA and industry events, and is interviewed and quoted frequently in national, local and industry media outlets. 

Prior to joining the MBA, he worked in Ernst & Young's Quantitative Economics and Statistics (QUEST) group, and holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Statistics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Tammy Butler, Master CMB, developed her own technology that was utilized by national platforms. This brought her to the attention of Optimal Blue, where she was asked to create a new technology that allowed lenders to monitor their lending and pricing patterns. She was also responsible for the promotion and marketing of the product. She did this by positioning herself as a thought leader for best practices for maintaining profitability while correcting problematic pricing patterns of practice.

Additionally, as the head of production and operations for an independent mortgage banker, Tammy utilized her core competencies in marketing and origination to grow a mortgage company’s production from $120 million to $1.2 billion in two short years, during a non-refinance environment!

This includes the implementation of company strategy for both short- and long-term projects in an effort to optimize workflow and productivity. Dave Nuerge has over fifteen years of real estate experience and is one of only a handful of residential appraisers in Northeast Indiana to have attained the SRA Designation from the Appraisal Institute. The SRA designation is earned by completing graduate-level appraisal curriculum including a written demonstration appraisal report and by attaining 3,000 hours of qualifying experience requirements.

Dave is an expert at appraising vacant residential land, residential single unit dwelling properties, residential manufactured homes, residential 2-4 unit properties, REO (Foreclosure), FHA, FHA 203K, new construction, and appraisal reviews. Josh Spoonamore, Owner of Spoonamore Appraisal Group, has been in the industry since 2011, and is a graduate of Purdue University. He began Spoonamore Appraisal Group after having experience working with a nationwide Appraisal Management Company. He is a Certified Residential Appraiser as well as an FHA Roster Appraiser, and is Appraisal Qualifications Board Compliant. Josh has completed more than 228 hours of licensing education.

Kaye Flanagan manages the underwriting Help Desk, and underwrites files for Hallmark Home Mortgage.  She began her career at Norwest Mortgage where she was a processor, and then worked for Waterfield Mortgage where she became a VP of Operations, managing up to 20 employees.  She then moved to Hallmark in the closing and post-closing area, before moving into Investor relations, and then realizing she loved the review of guidelines and updating them, led her to her current position with Hallmark Home Mortgage.

Debra Pedzinski, Vice President of Retail Lending at Horizon Bank

Debra Pedzinski is a graduate of Indiana University Kelly School of Business with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. She currently is the Vice President of the Retail Lending Underwriting team and her responsibilities include managing a staff of 18 underwriters in addition to supporting 39 mortgage loan officers. She has obtained her FHA DE and VA LAPP SAR designations in addition to being recognized as one of Horizon’s top performers; she was also a member of Horizon Bank’s Presidents Club and the recipient of the Horizon Bank Robert C Dabagia Leadership Award.
